The Eagle Lake Lodge Tradition
Clifton Tyler Goose Hunting Club is the oldest hunting club in the Eagle Lake area. Clifton Tyler's father, Marvin Tyler, is credited with putting Eagle Lake on the map which led to its goose hunting capital of the world title. That happened in 1970, when actor Andy Griffith and golfer Sam Snead filmed a hunt with American Sportsman outdoor show.
Afterwards hunters started flocking to Eagle Lake from all over the nation. Business more than doubled in one year. The rest is history!
Marvin Tyler was a pioneer in developing guided goose hunts in the Texas Gulf Coast. Another legacy of Marvin's is the rag decoy method of hunting. This method is still widely used wherever geese are hunted. Clifton Tyler continues that heritage providing the best goose hunting in the Texas Gulf Coast.
We lease several thousand acres of rice land in the Eagle Lake area. Our club constructs, and maintains many roost ponds for geese and ducks that are used as migratory waterfowl rest areas. We also have over numerous duck ponds and even more rice fields for goose hunting. Our club employs friendly and experienced guides, some who have been guiding for our club for nearly 20 years.
