We have been intensively managing our wildlife for the past twenty-six years, and have been family owned and operated for seven generations.
Hunters on our Ranch enjoy a near 100% success rate in getting their game.
We are a No-Alcohol Ranch. Our ranches have been owned and operated by the Martin family for 150 years. Located in the heart of the wild and scenic Texas Hill Country our 5000-acre Ranger Camp Ranch is headquartered at the site of an historic Texas Ranger encampment, and is approximately 15 minutes south of Mason.
The ranch is largely in a natural state; with native grasses, persimmon, and white brush enhancing rolling hills and prairies of mesquite and live oak that provide excellent cover for whitetail deer, Rio Grande turkeys, and wild hogs. Two large creeks, Rocky Creek and Schep Creek, German for "crooked," and many draws and wet weather creeks, wind through the ranch, providing water, high quality forage, protection and prime habitat for numerous species of wildlife. The north and east sides of the ranch are bordered by the beautiful Llano River, one of the last free-flowing rivers in the state.
For seven generations Ranger Camp Ranch has been carefully managed to achieve the most advantageous balance possible for our domestic livestock and the numerous species of wildlife which have called our ranch home.
For the past twenty-seven years intensive whitetail deer management has improved the quality of our whitetail herd as evidenced by the harvest records we have kept on weights and antler size. Harvest quotas are determined by data collected during our deer count surveys, observation of habitat availability and condition of the herd. Our experience in game management, along with advice from our wildlife biologist, helps ensure that our wildlife population is maintained in optimum condition, and at population levels which are supported by the availability of forage.
We have carefully managed our turkey population and have harvested this species only during the spring gobbler season. As a result, we have a very large population of mature, healthy birds.
We have a prolific, healthy wild hog herd with meat and trophy-sized hogs that have kept hunters coming back for years. As with all our wildlife populations, our harvest decisions have been made to keep the optimum balance of all species on our ranch.
For the quality outdoor experience you are seeking, come see us at Ranger Camp Ranch. You will be glad you did.
