For DU’s Sporting Expo at 73rd Annual Convention

Memphis, Tenn. ─ Jan. 18, 2010 ─ An impressive lineup of corporate sponsors and featured activities will highlight Ducks Unlimited’s Sporting EXPO, a new element of DU’s 73rd National Convention. The convention will run May 26-30, 2010, at The Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, with the EXPO beginning May 28 and wrapping up May 30. The EXPO will offer something for all sporting interests with an emphasis on waterfowl, whitetail and turkey hunting, related gear and personalities.

“Corporate sponsors embrace the EXPO concept. We feel their promotion of the Sporting EXPO offers people of all sporting interests lots of opportunities to have fun and get involved,” said Randy Graves, chief executive officer for DU. Graves said companies quickly rallied around DU to ensure that the 2010 Sporting EXPO presented by Hevi-Shot will be successful and fun for attending hunters and anglers. DU is pleased to be a partner with Hevi-Shot given its wide assortment of high quality ammunition.

Joining Hevi-Shot are a number of Host Sponsors:

Academy Sports & Outdoors serves as  promotional partner and ticket outlet in the Dallas/Fort Worth market; The Outdoor Channel brings some of the best outdoor personalities on television to meet attendees, sign autographs and present seminars; Yamaha will be on site with its latest in ATV and side-by-side vehicles; Texas Fish & Game magazine is helping Ducks Unlimited promote the EXPO in Texas; Cabela’s will host the Activity Zone at the EXPO; Dallas Safari Club is on board to help host DU in Dallas and bring their members to the fun; Texas Sporting Journal is partnering its quality publication to introduce DU to an audience of avid hunters; First Fidelity Reserve is a Host Sponsor and supporter of DU; and, Jack Daniels will feature a mobile road show to let people experience everything that makes the Jack Daniels brand famous and great.

The EXPO will showcase a variety of interactive opportunities at the Cabela’s Activity Zone ─ a 3-D archery range, laser sporting clays range, rock climbing wall for all ages and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation trophy tour.  The EXPO will also host an opening night acoustic warm-up session from featured Duck Jam performer Roger Creager. On Saturday, May 29, DU will host the Team Realduck Ducks Unlimited Sporting EXPO Duck Calling Challenge. Along with the activities, the seminar stage will feature industry professionals detailing the latest in outdoor strategies, tactics and tricks.

“We are excited about this fabulous lineup of activities and seminars for the EXPO. Outdoor sportsmen can spend the entire weekend participating in interactive events and learning from some of the best professionals in the business,” said Clay Connor, event manager for the EXPO.

General admission to the Sporting Expo is $10 with discount coupons available online beginning March 1, 2010.  In addition, the first 1,000 attendees each day will receive a $10 Off voucher from Cabela’s redeemable at the local store.
